Mike Bosma: Head Coach, Distance
Coach Bosma has been coaching distance runners since 2007 including 5 years as assistant cross country coach. He has been the head track and field coach at CVC since 2017. Mike ran track and cross country at South Christian High School in Michigan and enjoys sharing that experience with his athletes. He also runs marathons as a hobby and completed the 2023 Boston Marathon and 2024 Chicago Marathon. Mike also enjoys getting to know students outside of the classroom on a more personal level.
Mike Hackbarth: Sprints, Associate Head Coach, High Jump
Coach Hackbarth has been coaching track and field since 2000: 12 years in Wisconsin and 8 years at CVC. He attended Racine Lutheran High School and participated in football, basketball, and track. He played basketball collegiately at Concordia University-Mequon.
Brian Gilbert: Throws
Coach Gilbert has been coaching track and field since 2000. He attended Mariposa High School and participated in football, basketball, and track. He threw collegiately at California State University-Stanislaus. While there, he was an All-American in the hammer throw. Brian has also coached at the University and Junior College level for 8 years and also coaches with the CVC football team.
Joseph (Kerry) Udell: Pole Vault
Coach Udell has participated, officiated and coached track & field for 56 years. He competed for Canada in international competition in middle distance, long jump, sprints, decathlon and pole vault. He has officiated in CIF, NCAA and NAIA as a starter, meet referee and pole vault judge. Prior to CVC, he coached multiple high school state champions in Washington and Idaho. Kerry established the pole vault program at CVC in 2011 and coached the girls to 6 league championships and the boys to 1 league championship. He has also coached long jump, triple jump and hurdles when needed.
Doug Talk: Hurdles/Long/Triple Jump
Coach Talk has been coaching and officiating youth, middle school and high school sports for 31 years in track and field, baseball, basketball and football. He attended Douglas Byrd High School in North Carolina where he was a three-year varsity athlete in football, baseball, and track, competing in the 110/300 hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump, 800 m, and 4x1600m relay.
